Motor locked up well i have the lower unit off ,i pulled the power head to disconnect the shifting rod only to learn that on the down tube there is a cover plate to disconnect it there. On some engines i've seen an impact wrench used to turn the crank. When the engine oil gets too low, the engine begins to heat up and parts start rubbing together. When the problem is at the initial stage, you will hear light tapping or knocking sounds when driving the car.
The engine can only run like this for so long and will eventually seize. For an engine to become hydrolocked requires fluid to enter one or more cylinders, and the fluid needs to be more volume than the combustion chamber allows when the piston is at its uppermost travel in the compression stroke. But it is the power head that is locked up. Oil lubricates the pistons so they can move within the cylinders. I guess you learn by doing.
I have to rotate the flywheel back and forth to free it up at which point the starter will engage and start the engine. That sounds like a goo. The motor turned over slow but then when the water shot out it turned over like normal as before. When a push lawnmower's pull string, or starter rope, locks up, it could mean the engine has a problem, but that usually isn't the case when oil is. You may notice your engine locked up while driving, but if you are lucky, you were parked, and it just did not start. Is the engine low on oil? When i take the head off ill let everyone know what it looks like. For some reason, the engine is no longer functional, and it refuses to run. Is there anything than can be done to get the engine running again? We were told they have never seen this happen. Normally, the piston compresses an air/fuel vapor mixture in the cylinder.
I am normally on the 6.0 side of things on here but we run a large amount of 6.7's in our fleet and just lost another motor from what it sounds like.
